Today was a very cool day at Homeschool Pool and busy as usual. We participated for the first time in Hip Homeschool Hop. The people at http://www.hiphomeschoolmoms.com have a homeschool blog hop every Tuesday. We checked out several other blogs and posted about them in the comments under the blog post:
We came across some great places and will be visiting them again soon. Check them out as well!
All About Spelling had a cool giveaway today for a free game that is not only fun but helps kids learn how to spell compound words. We cut out all the pieces and laminated them so we can keep them a lot longer. (I LOVE MY LAMINATOR!!) We haven’t played it yet but it is on the agenda for tomorrow after our field trip. Look for a review of it soon.
Speaking of giveaways, Secular Homeschool has one running and you only have one more day to get in on it. We discussed what we do for Citizenship recently in these 2 blog posts:

Today’s blog post is on a lesson I learned (again) about making sure the adults also recharge their batteries with some distance from the kids – Date night is a life saver! Check out the blog post here:
Look for Homeschool Dad’s weekly blog coming up tomorrow as well as a rundown on our field trip to the Downtown Aquarium for homeschool day.
Today in Homeschool Pool land we worked on Math with Tadpole. We did measurements and discussed Imperial and Metric units of measurement. She then worked on her foreign languages: German, Spanish and ASL. We are currently working on kitchen words because she spends so much time there. We try to have her learn words that she uses regularly so that we can use them in every day communication. She also worked on her science fair project, some typing and word processing skills and piano, learning a new song.
Guppy worked on her handwriting. She is having difficulty with the number 2 so we did a lot of practice using different methods. We started out using traceable worksheets then went to the salt pan and then the dry erase board. By the end she was much improved but we will still work on it.
Minnow had tumble tots today and as usual had a blast. Aside from that he did music and art and just had a great 2-year-old-time.
We at Homeschool Pool hope everyone had a great day and continued good wishes for the remainder of the week.
